- Negative mindset
But before diving in, a quick clearance on
What is the difference between a paid course and a free course and which one should you choose?
Free courses: you find free courses everywhere. The only problem is you do not value free stuff because it is free, you didn’t pay. It doesn’t matter how many courses you take until and unless you put that content you learnt into practice, if not it is completely useless. Sometimes all free courses you get on You Tube and other learning applications do not provide all the needed information, you will have to find it doing some additional searches. Another important thing to consider is that you don’t get proper guidance under any one of these courses.
Paid courses: quite opposite to free courses are paid courses. Here, you buy courses paying your hard-earned money and which is why you value anything you pay. Though they are expensive, it is totally worth the money you pay, you will get everything you need for a successful learning like pdfs, cheat sheets, proper guidance, and course materials, sometimes they will guide you personally based on your IQ levels. You will find all the required information at one place, do not have to sweat yourself to surf through browsers.
Which one is better, free courses or paid courses?
This is entirely personal to you. I would say, if you are consistent about what you are learning/ what you are going to learn including being good at using internet, personal guidance, making notes etc. then prefer free courses. If not, if you feel like you really need some guidance and everything pre made for you, then go for paid courses.
What stops you from learning?
1. Over confidence

This is the basic reason why you fail after getting started. Over estimating the outcome results can be happy in the beginning, little did you know that later as you progress that happy turns sad. Because learning isn’t a constant process, there will be ups and downs, similarly the partial results too will be positive and negative sometimes, this negative partial results will create a great impact on your pre-estimated outcome goals, again which will affect your motivation to do it. Which is why many people fail, also remember results takes time based on how you work for it.
Points to note:
- Do not over estimate your self
- Lower your expectations
2. Learning like they do binge eating

How do you learn something? Do you have any schedules or note taking method? How do you prepare? Because how you prepare your learning is also important and have an impact on your motivational levels. If you study just like binge eating all at one time, get prepared to face a huge failure in the near future. This is the mistake you do, you will study all at once if not, you will not even care about it and thinks that you can get the maximum out of it. Nope, instead of getting maximum, you are slowing losing interest in it and eventually you will step aback one final day.
Solution:
- Divide the total contents of course material into parts, those parts into sub-parts and then allot a topic for each day to go through. Be sure you go through it at least once a day and try learning something from your study time.
3. Procrastination

Why do you procrastinate?
Above all, you often tend to procrastinate because “you are afraid of failing at the tasks that you need to complete”, this fear of failure can promote procrastination in various ways, such as by causing you to avoid finishing a task, or by causing you to avoid getting started on a task in the first place.
If procrastination is a problem, there is always a solution. Just like locks are never manufactured without keys.
How to Fight Procrastination?
- Commit to a task
- Do not multitask,
- Reward yourself,
- Follow the “Pomodoro Technique”. (Pomodoro Technique is like doing work for 45mins and taking 15mins of break)

4. Cost of education

High amount is high education. If you pay more, you will enrich more. Most people stops learning as they couldn’t afford it. You know what, ‘WHERE THERE IS WILL, THERE IS AWAY’. If you really want to learn new, there are way too many free resources you can get access to out there.
Want to know where you can get access to free resources:
- Coursera.org
- Alison.com
- Greatlearning
- Udemy
Of course, they contain paid content either.
5. Lack of motivation

Motivation plays an important role while learning new. It is an urge to behave in a way that will satisfy certain conditions such as wishes, desires or goals. One way to be motivated is to be specific about why you want to learn XYZ. Knowing why you want to learn will motivate you if you ever get distracted. Just be sure you have a strong intention and reason before you start learning something.
How to increase motivation?
The best way is to surround yourself with the like-minded people.
For instance, if you want to learn XYZ, then be among the people who also want to learn XYZ or already experienced in that particular area. In this way you feel motivated and inspired by the improvement and the work shown by others, also you will try your level best to get it done.

6. Negative mindset

Can you tell what type of person you are? Either positive minded or negative minded?
If you observe, negative minded people tend to be suffering with one or the other issue, because they have negative mind, they think negatively and eventually the whole of them become negative, every thought they think, every action they do, every step they take, everything is negative.
Negativity:
Negativity can also be influenced by the other person, as it is said that “Choose the right one”, the one who supports you, encourage you and motivates you. Not the one who talks down to you, discourage you, doubt you, envy you and etc.
Suppose if you think you can’t, you will certainly end up with 0% improvement. If you think you can with strong determination, you certainly can and your outcome would be great, may not be a 100%, but still you would have developed. And that’s all upon you, if to take the negative thinking side, or the positive thinking side. And in between people are like cat on a wall, wondering which side would be fruitful to jump. So, choose the positive side and try to stay positive even in the darkest times because every dark tunnel has a light coming from the other side.
